Frequently Asked Questions
Can I test someone without the other party knowing?
No. All individuals involved in testing must provide informed consent prior to sample collection — this is both an ethical requirement and a legal one under Florida Statute §760.40. Consent ensures accuracy, protects everyone's personal rights, and keeps results valid and legally defensible. If you're in a situation where the other party is refusing to participate, a Florida court can compel testing under Chapter 742, Florida Statutes, and refusal can have legal consequences. For personal peace of mind only (not for court use), some informational testing options exist. Call us at 321-800-1676 and we can point you in the right direction.
Does Synoplus Lab Solutions share client data?
No. Synoplus Lab Solutions does not share client data with third parties for marketing or any other purpose. All personal information and test results are securely stored and accessed only by authorized Synoplus Lab Solutions personnel or our accredited laboratory partners, in compliance with Florida Statute §760.40 and applicable privacy law. Results are released only with your written authorization and are delivered through secure channels — never by unencrypted email or text message.
How long does DNA testing take from start to results?
The process is quick and straightforward.
Collection & Paperwork:
Sample collection and required paperwork typically take 15–30 minutes, depending on the number of participants and the type of test being performed.
Results Turnaround Time:
Once samples are received by the laboratory, results are typically available within 3–5 business days. If you have a court deadline or urgent need, call us at 321-800-1676 to discuss your timeline — expedited processing may be available.
We'll notify you as soon as your results are ready and arrange secure delivery.
What is the difference between a legal DNA test and an informational DNA test?
While both types of tests are handled and processed with the same high standard of care and accuracy, the difference comes down to how the results can be used.
Legal DNA Testing follows a strict chain-of-custody process, includes identity verification, and is performed in accordance with Florida legal standards (FL §742.12). Results can be used for court proceedings, child support, custody determinations, and other official purposes.
Informational DNA Testing is for personal knowledge only. It does not follow legal chain-of-custody requirements and therefore cannot be used in court or for any legal matter.
Not sure which type is right for your situation? Call us at 321-800-1676 or email info@synopluslabs.com, we're happy to help you decide before you book.
Can I use my DNA test results for an immigration case?
No. The DNA testing services offered by Synoplus Lab Solutions are not authorized for use in U.S. immigration proceedings. Immigration DNA testing is governed by separate requirements set by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and the U.S. Embassy, and must be arranged through a laboratory specifically accredited for that purpose. If you need DNA testing for immigration purposes, we recommend contacting an AABB-accredited laboratory that is authorized to conduct Embassy-directed testing.
Do I have to come to your office, or can you come to me?
Both options are available. Our office is located at 5200 Babcock St NE, Suite 113, Palm Bay, FL 32905, with scheduled appointments available. We also offer mobile collection with our packages. Our certified collector comes to your home, office, or almost any location in Brevard or Indian River County. Mobile collection follows the exact same chain-of-custody process as our in-office collection, so your results are equally valid for legal or personal purposes. Book online at synopluslabs.com or call 321-800-1676.
Can a child be tested for DNA paternity, and what do I need to bring?
Yes. In fact, the child's sample is a required part of standard paternity testing. For minors, we require documentation confirming legal guardianship before collection. Acceptable documentation includes a court order establishing guardianship or legal custody. All participants must bring a valid government-issued photo ID. If you have questions about what documentation applies to your situation, call us at 321-800-1676 before your appointment.
Are your DNA test results accepted by Florida courts?
Yes. Our legal paternity tests are conducted following a documented chain-of-custody process that meets the requirements of Florida Statute §742.12. All specimens are analyzed by an AABB-accredited reference laboratory, the accreditation standard required by Florida courts for admissible genetic testing results. We provide the documentation your attorney or the courts will need. If you have a specific court requirement or deadline, call us at 321-800-1676 so we can make sure your testing is set up correctly from the start.
Is my DNA test private and confidential?
Absolutely. Under Florida Statute §760.40, DNA test results are the exclusive property of the person tested and are legally confidential. We never share your results with any third party without your written authorization. Results are delivered securely, never by unencrypted email or text message. Your personal information and genetic data are handled in accordance with Florida's privacy laws and our documented data security policies. Call us at 321-800-1676 if you have any questions about confidentiality before you book.
What do i need to bring to my appointment?
All participants — including children — must be present at the time of collection. Please bring the following:
A valid, government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport). IDs must be current and not expired.
If any participant is a minor, the accompanying adult must bring documentation confirming legal guardianship — a court order or letters of guardianship. Notarized letters alone are not accepted.
No special preparation is required before your appointment, but please avoid eating, drinking (other than water), chewing gum, or smoking for at least 30 minutes before your sample is collected.
If you're unsure whether your documents qualify, call us at 321-800-1676 before your appointment and we'll confirm.
